KITCHEN ASSISTANT                                                               POSTED: 12/14/2009

Part-Time (M–F, 4-6pm)     

Summary:

Responsible for assisting in coordination of daily operations at the Kids Café.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:         

  • Serves prepared food to 6-18 year old club members as part of Kids Café program.

  • Fill out reporting form daily and fax it to The Greater Boston Food Bank and internal BGCB representatives weekly (and/or as requested).

  • Report any incidents to the Programs Manager at The Greater Boston Food Bank.

  • Coordinate with The Greater Boston Food Bank for technical assistance and nutrition education programming.

  • Responsible for ensuring that program is in compliance with local board of health regulations.

  • Participate in meetings regarding Kids Cafe as needed. 

  • Participate in evaluations and media as requested.

  • Work well with children and adults.

 

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demands)

  • Knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation strongly preferred

  • Experience coordinating programs.

  • Servsafe certification required (ServSafe certified or willingness to become certified in food safety)

  • Experience working with children

  • Organized and reliable.

  • High School diploma or GED Certificate.

  • Flexibility to work clubhouse hours especially as seasons and service needs change.

  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
