Educational Tour to DC
April 18-April 22: Fifth grade Torch Club members from Franklin Hill Club, alongside Torch Club members from the Mattahunt, the Sumner and the Condon Boys & Girls Club visited the Sallie Mae Headquarters, the Air and Space Smithsonian Museum, the Anacostia Smithsonian Museum, toured the University of Maryland, the Corcoran Gallery and went on a walking tour that included seeing the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, the WWII Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial.
These tours, funded by the Sallie Mae Foundation, allowed Torch Club members to get an early start on their thinking about college, and be exposed to historical locations. This wonderful opportunity allowed them to travel outside of their comfort zones in order to explore new territories, as they continue to build their character and strengthen their levels of confidence.
