ASSITANT AQUATICS DIRECTOR                                       POSTED: 01/23/2012

PART-TIME (M-F 15-20 HRS)

Position Summary:

Major responsibility is to assist with the planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of quality and developmentally appropriate programs, activities, services, and special events in the club’s aquatics program area for youth ages 6-18.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Aquatics Director in providing a variety of programming options reflective of the BGCB Aquatics Program.  Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to, oversight of open swim, swim lessons, swim team, and lifeguard training.
  • Assist in the completion of BGCB’s program activity standards as assigned.
  • Supervise and discipline of members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate.
  • Participate in collaborative programs and events with staff from other clubhouse departments as well as staff from other BGCB clubhouses and community organizations as appropriate.  Participate in NENEAPC programs as appropriate.
  • Participate in program/service outcome measurement processes and other evaluations programs including BGCA’s annual evaluation Commitment to Quality
  • Secure, maintain and monitor materials, equipment and other resources belonging to the program area(s).  Maintain a safe and clean program area.  
  • Participate in individual and group supervision sessions; participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate.
  • Travel between sites and to activities as needed.
  • Other related duties as specified by the Aquatics Director.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demand   

  • High School degree or GED required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience delivering aquatics programs for youth; in out-of-school-time settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of trends in swimming techniques, pool maintenance, and lifeguard training.
  • Lifeguard, CPR, FA and WSI certifications required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • MS Office and web competency preferred.
  • Ability to work with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work clubhouse hours especially as seasons and service needs change.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

 

TEEN ADVOCATE                                                                       POSTED: 8/31/11

PART-TIME (M-F 25 HRS)                     

Position Summary:

Major responsibility is to recruitment and retention of teen members as well as to provide leadership and life skills programming to teens.  This position manages all functions of the outreach and advocates program for teens. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with teen department staff, provide a variety of programming options reflective of the BGCB Teen Program.  Individual program responsibilities include, but not limited to, delivery of leadership programs and life skills programs.
  • Develop a recruitment and retention program including outreach, orientation to new members, and a program to retain 12 and 13-year-old members transitioning into the Teen Center.
  • Supervise and discipline of members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate.
  • Participate in the completion of BGCB program activity standards as determined each year.
  • Participate in collaborative programs and events with staff from other clubhouse departments as well as staff from other BGCB clubhouses and community organizations as appropriate. 
  • Work with program partners and consultants who can offer related instruction, support and guidance to members.
  • Participate in program/service outcome measurement processes and other evaluations programs including BGCA’s annual evaluation Commitment to Quality
  • Act as a liaison with community entities.
  • Orient, train and supervise department staff as assigned.
  • Provide annual performance evaluations for applicable staff in a timely manner. 
  • Secure, maintain and monitor budget, materials, equipment and other resources belonging to the program area(s).  Maintain a clean and safe program area(s).

TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR                                                   POSTED:  08/19/11

Full-time 1:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Position Summary:

Major responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of the BGCB Technology Program (planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of quality and developmentally appropriate programming within the Club’s technology program area for youth ages 6-18). Maintaining all member computers in all program areas throughout the Club ensuring computers are operational and able to be used by members. Additional responsibilities include the supervision of program staff, department budget, program support to other Club program areas, and the training of BGCB staff and other stakeholders as appropriate. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Within the Harcourt Learning and Technology Center (HLTC), manage all aspects of program design, delivery and evaluation consistent with the guidelines of the Intel Computer Clubhouse and the objectives of the BGCB Technology Program.  Ensure members have the opportunity to design projects and express themselves creatively utilizing technology in a learner-centered environment.  Expose members to technology beyond the Club via trips to other BGCB Clubs, the Intel Computer Clubhouse, MIT Media Lab, Museum of Science and other locations deemed appropriate.
  • Supervise and discipline members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the Club as deemed appropriate.
  • Develop and participate in collaborative programs/events with other Club staff and staff from other BGCB Clubs including Cyber Summit.
  • Manage and actively participate in all aspects of appropriate external collaborative efforts/programs and community-based initiatives (e.g. Technology Goes Home, pilots of software and other program activities, community consortiums, ICCN collaborative programs).  Documentation of the experience, reports, grants and other reporting responsibilities are to be completed in a professional and timely manner.  Assess opportunities of new partnership opportunities and make recommendations to Executive Director and Director of Program Development.
  •  Participate in program/service outcome measurement processes and other evaluations including BGCA’s annual evaluation, Commitment to Quality.
  • Act as an on-site technology program/activity resource to clubhouse department heads.

Technical Support and Training:

  • Serve as first point-of-contact for technical support throughout the Club
  • Assist Director of IT Services as necessary for troubleshooting, maintaining member machines, technology rollouts, and inventory asset management.
  • Assist with integration of technology throughout the Club.

Administrative:

  • Orient, train and supervise department staff; provide annual performance evaluations for applicable staff in a timely manner.
  • Recruit and retain mentors and other volunteers who can offer related instruction, support and guidance to members.
  • Attend Agency Technology Team meetings, Intel Computer Clubhouse Network (ICCN) meetings, and other meetings deemed appropriate by either/both supervisors. Participate in professional development opportunities as approved by either/both supervisors include ICCN trainings/conferences.
  • Secure, maintain and monitor budget, supplies, equipment and other resources belonging to the technology program.  Maintain cleanliness of program area.
  • Recruit and retain members for Club Tech Team, conduct weekly programming with the Tech Team teaching technology related software and hardware skill sets, utilize Tech Team help to maintain member computers and with any agency wide technology projects being rolled out under the supervision of  BGCB Director of IT Services.
  • Travel between sites and to activities as needed.
  • Other related duties as specified by the Director of Operations and/or Director of Program Development.
  • All hardware and software purchases being sought through grants must be approved by Director of IT Services in addition to an electronic copy of finished grant proposal.

  • BA/BS required; equivalent experience (including certifications) considered
