SENIOR SOCIAL WORKER POSTED: 6/27/08
Purpose: The Youth Service Providers Network (YSPN) is a program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston in partnership with the Boston Police Department. YSPN’s mission is to respond to at-risk youth and their families who are referred by police officers. The lead social worker is based in a district police station and supervises one district based social worker. Using YSPN's Three-Tier Model, the social workers will develop and provide appropriate intervention and treatment strategies including referral and follow-up to available community based service provider(s).
Direct Practice responsibilities include:
Introductory phone calls to youth and families
Home visits, intakes and assessments, referrals, advocacy, clinical case management, crisis intervention and linkage to community based services.
Individual and family counseling
Set up and lead case conferences for clients with families and providers
Develop and maintain relationships with community-based service providers and other public/private providers such as the Department of Social Services, Department of Youth Services, churches, schools, courts, etc.
Respond to critical incidents in the community with services to youth and families around violence, death and trauma.
Attend community based meetings pertinent to needs/issues of youth in community
Maintain accurate and timely case records via database
Participate in weekly individual supervision, group supervision & staff meetings
Lead Responsibilities include:
Provide weekly individual supervision to one district based social worker (DBSW)
Supervise all 1st time home-visits & assessments with supervisee, DBSW
Triage all new client referrals with supervisee
Oversee & monitor all ongoing cases & treatment plans of supervisee
Provide immediate consultation & support to supervisee’s around client & case crises
Facilitate higher level advocacy with the supervisors & managers of other systems
Monitor documentation of cases via database reports & supervisors’ checklist
Review and revise supervisee’s monthly reports for the district police Captain
Provide coverage for other DBSW’s as needed
Maintain own caseload
Perform other related duties as needed & directed
Qualifications:
MSW required
LICSW or LICSW eligible preferred (LCSW considered based on experience)
Minimum 1-2 years of supervisory experience (clinical supervision)
1-3 years work experience with high risk urban youth and their families
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as being highly self-directed
Excellent written, verbal & organizational skills
Sense of humor and flexibility needed
Demonstrated ability to work across cultures, ethnic backgrounds and socio-economic groups
