Message from the CEO

Dear Friends,

As so many of us prepare to take a break and spend the holidays with our families, I can’t help but think about the families served by Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. The holidays often bring an added level of stress as parents and guardians struggle to afford even basic gifts for their children or a special holiday meal. At this time of year, the many resources on which these caregivers depend are often unavailable. That’s why we are deeply grateful to our generous supporters and partners who help us ease the burden for these families at holiday time and all throughout the year. On behalf of the 14,000 children and teens we serve, thank you.

Wishing you and your family a happy and safe holiday season and all the best in the new year.

Josh Kraft

2010 Annual Report now online!

Our 2010 Annual Report celebrates our “Legacy of Leadership” throughout our 117-year history. We are grateful to many of our former Board Chairs and alumni who contributed quotes on leadership, and the many photographers who donated their work to this effort.

Nearly 40 children from several Boys & Girls Clubs could barely contain their excitement when they saw Boston Celtics players Kendrick Perkins and Avery Bradley walk into the gym at the South Boston Boys & Girls Club where they had gathered for a special event on Nov. 4. The event was the official kick-off to “Fit to Win,” a new program aimed at creating awareness and preventing childhood obesity, sponsored by Covidien.

Yawkey Club of Roxbury Community Celebrates at Centennial Gala

It’s not too often that we get to celebrate a 100th anniversary, so we took advantage of this year’s Yawkey Club of Roxbury centennial to throw a big party. On Nov. 18, approximately 350 guests joined BGCB to celebrate. The Gala was the culmination of a year of activities celebrating 100 years of service to the Roxbury community.
