Investment in youth is key to sustaining Greater Boston’s vibrant and diverse business community. BGCB’s Corporate Leadership Council, co-chaired in 2010-11 by BGCB Board members Bob Gallery and John Fish, provides guidance on opportunities to engage Boston’s businesses more deeply in our work. Our major event for the corporate community is our Annual Dinner, which is held in early February each year.
Under the guidance of the Corporate Leadership Council, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston launched a formal corporate partnership program in 2009. For more information about BGCB's Corporate Partnership program, please contact Erika Field at efield@bgcb.org or 617-994-4727.
PREMIER PARTNER
Building on a long-standing tradition of investing in the communities it serves, Bank of America will embark in 2009 on a new, 10-year goal to donate $2 billion to nonprofit organizations engaged in improving the health and vitality of their neighborhoods. Funded by Bank of America, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation gave more than $200 million in 2007, making the bank the most generous financial institution in the world and the second largest donor of all U.S. corporations in cash contributions. Bank of America approaches giving through a national strategy called "neighborhood excellence" under which it works with local leaders to identify and meet the most pressing needs of individual communities. Through Team Bank of America, bank associate volunteers contributed more than 650,000 hours in 2007 to enhance the quality of life in their communities nationwide.
LEAD PARTNER
Suffolk Construction has an intense commitment to the community and to philanthropic efforts that enhance the lives of those in need. Red & Blue Foundation, the charitable arm of Suffolk, focuses on making a difference in local neighborhoods by positively impacting underprivileged and underserved children, particularly through educational programs. Red & Blue Foundation also initiates official volunteer programs that offer Suffolk employees greater opportunities to become involved in company-sponsored and non-company-sponsored volunteer activities throughout the country. This past year, the Foundation worked closely with the Archdiocese of Boston’s 2010 Initiative, the Boys & Girls Club of Boston, and Camp Harbor View, among others.
Through fundraising, building business and government partnerships, providing resources and expertise, and launching formal volunteer efforts that improve local educational programs and institutions, Red & Blue Foundation supports philanthropic opportunities that benefit children, their education, and the communities in which they live.
