Volunteer

In 2009, BGCB hosted more than 600 volunteers who completed nearly 5,000 hours of service, valued at close to $100,000!  To all who served in 2009, thank you for your commitment to the youth BGCB serves!

We are currently accepting applications for spring volunteer opportunities. Interested in being a mentor? Click here.

We strongly believe in the valuable role that volunteers play in transforming the lives of our members. As little as one hour per week is all it takes to have a positive impact on a child’s life. Every Club offers volunteer opportunities for adults to work directly with youth as mentors and tutors, and by providing career guidance, internships and college preparation support. We also welcome corporations seeking one day, project-based volunteer opportunities.

BGCB is very serious about our responsibility for the youth in our care. We are proud of our excellent reputation as a safe haven for youth. BGCB has been a national leader in adopting significant and proactive child protection guidelines and processes. Therefore, all volunteers must undergo a thorough screening process that includes:

  •    Volunteer Application

  •    One Reference Letter (please use this form)

  •    Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI)

  •    Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI)

  •    National CORI
  •    Volunteers must be ages 18 or older

Please note that a copy of your government issued ID, i.e. driver’s license, birth certificate, passport, etc. must accompany the CORI form.

Because we understand the importance of stable relationships with adult role models, we also require a minimum commitment of one hour per week for 12 weeks.
