Volunteer

Our volunteer program is currently full for Summer 2009, with the exception of several skills-based volunteer positions (see below). We are accepting applications for fall volunteer opportunities, and will contact applicants during the summer.

We strongly believe in the valuable role that volunteers play in transforming the lives of our members. As little as one hour per week is all it takes to have a positive impact on a child’s life. Every Club offers volunteer opportunities for adults to work directly with youth as mentors and tutors, and by providing career guidance, internships and college preparation support. We also welcome corporations seeking one day, project-based volunteer opportunities.

Because we understand the importance of stable relationships with adult role models, we also require a minimum commitment of one hour per week for 12 weeks.

BGCB is very serious about our responsibility for the youth in our care. We are proud of our excellent reputation as a safe haven for youth. BGCB has been a national leader in adopting significant and proactive child protection guidelines and processes. Therefore, all volunteers must undergo a thorough screening process that includes:

  •    Volunteer Application

  •    One Reference Letter

  •    Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI)

  •    Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI)

  •    National CORI
  •    Volunteers must be ages 18 or older

Step 1:    Browse available ongoing volunteer opportunities here. (Resumes Fall 2009)

Browse skills-based volunteer opportunities, which require a greater time

                commitment. (Updated 4/6/09)
