Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston developed a Strategic Plan, supported by pro-bono services from Bain & Company. The plan calls for BGCB to invest and innovate to double the number of youth at the impact threshold (defined as at least one visit per week). Despite economic challenges, BGCB has been able to achieve significant progress towards our strategic goals.
To supplement the talent and capacity of our professional staff, BGCB leverages the expertise and resources of other organizations, including corporate partners, foundations, and other non-profits, to broaden our reach and deepen our impact in a cost-effective way. Our partnerships play a vital role in serving members, in leveraging resources for maximum impact, and in helping us develop effective citizens and leaders among the youth whom we serve. We fully acknowledge that BGCB is just one factor among many that contribute to a young person's development — family life, school environment, hobbies, friendships and other institutional affiliations all play a role — however, we survey our members annually, and parents every few years, as a way of measuring our direct impact. We also track average daily attendance, and monthly membership at each Club.
We are proud of our positive impact on our city's young people and, in addition to sharing our results through this web site, we report key statistics and measurements to major supporters in our Annual Report, published in November.
