CyberSummit 2010

Seven members from the Jordan Boys & Girls Club attended CyberSummit, which included hands-on workshops using cutting-edge technology, as well as team building opportunities in the form of “technical challenges.”

Workshops and challenges ranged from creating digital music, merging art to technology, to building 3-D scale models, and filming and editing an original video. Students were given the opportunity to showcase their work at the Cyber Fair to family and friends.

The seven members felt empowered to utilize technology in a more meaningful and personal way.

CyberSummit is a sleepover event and a great way for members from Boys & Girls Clubs, Intel Computer Clubhouses, and local technology centers to meet new people and share their love for technology.

Boys' Night

Male Club members participated in Boys' Night at the Jordan Club, including a discussion about "masculinity in the media."  Male staff played popular songs that the teens listened to, and then examined the lyrics. Discussions touched on how the songs degraded women, promoted negative outlooks on life, and how they affected the young members. After our 45 minute group session the members played floor hockey and basketball. This Boys' Night out was the most productive one we've had all year.
