Club Alumna Goes to Congress
Candace Sealey (pictured left with fellow Congressional Aide and Charlestown Club alumnus Dan Ryan) is the epitome of the modern Club Kid. She grew up in Roxbury and attended the Roxbury Boys & Girls Club, now the Yawkey Club of Roxbury. She now works for Massachusetts' Congressman, Michael Capuano, as a District Aide. Candace looks back on her days at the Club fondly and remains a loyal Club supporter.
Not Your Average Alumna
Arodorothy Wilson (pictured left with Club Executive Director and fellow alumna Andrea Swain) isn’t your average Club alumna. Though she didn’t attend a club as a child, the club did become a large part of Mrs. Wilson’s adult life. She has been an active volunteer at the Roxbury Boys & Girls Club (now the Yawkey Club of Roxbury) since 1968, when two of her sons became members. In 1970 she became a member of the Club’s Advisory Board, the same year that she inspired her husband to become involved at the Club. Her daughter would later become a member of the Club in 1976.
Mrs. Wilson credits the Club with helping her children prepare to do some truly amazing things in life. Her oldest son, Benjamin, became a Navy Seal. Her younger son, Emmanuel, graduated from Alabama State College, Summa Cum Laude, after being selected to attend the FBI Academy during his junior year. Her daughter, Excaleata, has excelled as a manager for the well known children’s boutique, The Children’s Place.
