The golf outing raises funds for programming at the Yawkey Club of Roxbury. In addition to a great day of golf, test your skills with a hole-in-one con-test, longest drive and closet to the pin competition, with great prizes such as roundtrip airline tickets and vacation packages. The Boston Landmarks Orchestra, with Conductor and Artistic Director Charles Ansbacher,will bring free orchestral music to Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston through its Concerts for Children. The orchestra will perform Nkeiru Okoye’s The Journey of Phillis Wheatley, a narrated orchestral piece about the first African American to publish a book of poems. This program helps to expose young people to live classical music and teach them history lessons by performing works commissioned specifically for children based on significant events or individuals in Boston’s history.

Join us, and special guest Mayor Thomas M. Menino, for our 4th annual Spirit of Roxbury event, a free family-friendly celebration of community. This year's event will mark the start of our year-long Centennial Celebration, and will feature a special Club meal to conclude “Million Meals Summer” program sponsored by Morgan Stanley, in collaboration with The Greater Boston Food Bank.
The Spirit of Roxbury is co-chaired by Club Advisory Board Chair Fred Fairfield and Advisory Board and Board of Directors member Emily Brown, and supported by Lead Event Sponsor Arthur J. Hurley Company, along with Tropical Foods, Commonwealth Cooperative Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Brown Rudnick Law Firm and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carrabes.

Yawkey Club of Roxbury "Business Connections Breakfast" Series raises essential funds to support the Club's operating expenses and summer camp scholarships. On June 8, 2009 Red Sox Pitcher Ramon Ramirez visited the Yawkey Club and conduct a clinic on exercise and pitching. Spaulding donated approximately 60 gloves for members to play with. More than 75 members participated in the clinic.

A wonderful time was had by all attendees at our 8th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast. The photos bear witness to the array of people there. The honorable Judge Harris and Senator Sonia Chang Diaz also attended the event.
Yawkey Club Members “Rock The Vote”
On November 4, 2008 Yawkey Club members discussed democracy, the political process and the importance of voter registration and voting with Yawkey staff, thereafter they participated in a Mock Presidential Election.

Summer visits to the MFA
During the summer, 10-11 year olds took field trips to the MFA every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The program is part of the "Artful Adventures Project."
Life after the Club Program on May 1, 2008
Yawkey’s Life After the Club program kicked off May 1st with teens discussing issues including voter registration, banking, selective service, driver’s education, social etiquette and proper interviewing techniques. Yawkey staff members and representatives from One United Bank and Mount Washington Bank were in attendance.
