BGCB’s Summer Program serves youth ages 6 to 18, with separate programs for teens and for younger children. All programs are designed to keep young people off the streets, to educate them during the non-school months, and to provide recreational experiences to which they might not otherwise have access. BGCB camps comply with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and are licensed by the Board of Health. In 2009, the summer program at BGCB served 3,475 youth, including providing employment for 253 teens.
Year-round the teen center at the Yawkey Club of Roxbury provides activities to ensure exposure to new ideas, information, places and relationships. Recreation activities include access to pool tables, chess, ping pong, wide screen TV, computers with internet access, foosball, board games, movies, X-Box, Playstation 2 and more. Summer membership is free for teens.
