On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am deeply grateful
to our many generous supporters who made Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston a philanthropic priority during this past year. From major corporations, to small business owners, to individual donors, it was incredible to see how our friends really pulled together for BGCB, and by doing so, ensured that we could keep our commitment to the families we serve.

The economic challenges of the past year, rather than overwhelm BGCB, served to highlight the organization’s strengths. It was a period of time that required sacrifice from our staff who demonstrated everyday that serving
the youth of Boston and Chelsea is their top priority.

Looking ahead, we know that this will be another tough year. However, as a result of our thorough and careful planning, we believe it will be one of stability for our organization. We continue to balance the need for financial strength with our commitment to serve more youth. Therefore, we are staying poised for growth when the time is right and funding is available.

Thank you to our wonderful Board members and donors who have demonstrated to us that as long as we keep focused on our mission, you will help us continue to make a difference in the lives of kids who need us all across Greater Boston.

Sandra M. Edgerley

Chair, Board of Directors

Board of Directors

The primary responsibilities of the Board of Directors are to set policies and the strategic direction of the agency; approve plans and programs for the more than 14,000 young people whom BGCB serves in Clubs in Boston and Chelsea, and through our Youth Service Providers Network; and adopt the annual budget for the organization in addition to raising and dispersing funds. Furthermore, board members traditionally consider all actions on matters of general policy.

Board of Overseers

The Board of Overseers is charged with supporting BGCB's principal activities and policies, and acting as a liaison between the agency and the various communities it serves.
