Message from the CEO
Josh Kraft |
I am honored to serve as Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston’s Nicholas President and CEO, and to lead this highly effective organization through an important time in its history. We are committed to doubling the number of youth served over five years. This is an ambitious task, but one which we are well-positioned to take on thanks to Linda Whitlock, whose decade of leadership strengthened the organization, our talented staff, who stay focused on serving youth, and our dedicated volunteers, who support our work in countless essential ways.
When I joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston 18 years ago, I saw first-hand the effects of poverty, substance abuse, domestic violence, and gang activity. Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston has been an important resource to families in need for 115 years, and we have helped thousands of children and teens become effective citizens and leaders. Even so, there are still approximately 20,000* youth who are without quality out-of-school time programming in our service area. With violence involving young people making the headlines with alarming frequency, we have a lot of work to do.
Working closely with our great group of volunteers, staff and program partners, and with support from generous donors who care about our city’s kids, we will make our vision to double the number of youth served a reality.
