57% of alumni say that participating in a Club “saved my life.”
Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) provides nearly 14,000 children and teens who need us most a safe place to go, ongoing relationships with caring adults, and life enhancing programs and experiences that build strong character and leadership qualities.
We help them stay safe when they need it most – after school, on weekends, during the summer – and where they need it most – in communities with prevalent crime, poverty and substance abuse. We give hope and opportunity.
We serve children and teens, ages 6 to 18, in our Clubs and through our Youth Service Providers Network, whose social workers are based at Boston police stations and citywide units.
Our programs help youth develop into responsible citizens by providing real skills, igniting passions, and inspiring confidence about their future. They focus on six core initiatives: Arts; Education; Leadership; Life Skills; Sports, Fitness and Recreation; and Technology. We run summer camp programs for children and leadership programs for teens at five of our Clubs, and at Camp Harbor View.
BGCB leverages the expertise and resources of other organizations to broaden our reach and deepen our impact. Our reputation for exceptional program delivery has, in turn, made us a sought-after partner for organizations seeking to provide beneficial programs or services to children and teens.
Mayor Thomas M. Menino calls BGCB “the most effective youth program in the city.”
