On any given day, the Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Club in Dorchester hums with energy, young voices, basketball thumps, songwriting workshops, and quiet homework help. At the center of that rhythm now stands KJ Grubbs, newly named Executive Director and a living example of the Club’s promise in action.

Kenia “KJ” Grubbs isn’t just stepping into a new role, she’s returning to her roots to lead with purpose. A proud alumna of the Yawkey Club of Roxbury and former teen leader, KJ represents what happens when young people are seen, supported, and given space to lead.

“I am a reflection of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, and stepping into this role is deeply personal,” said KJ Grubbs. “It’s an honor to lead a Club that has poured so much into generations of young people, including me. I’m committed to building on that legacy and continuing to create safe, inspiring spaces where our members can dream big and achieve even more.”

KJ brings over a decade of experience working with youth and families across Boston. After earning her BA in Psychology with a minor in Law & Justice from Eckerd College in 2018, she dedicated her career to youth development, holding impactful roles at Camp Harbor View, The Clubhouse Network, and Neighborhood House Charter School.

In 2023, she returned to BGCB as Director of Operations at the Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Club. Since then, her leadership, authenticity, and commitment to the community have already made a measurable impact on Club culture and outcomes.

“KJ is a remarkable leader, demonstrating a meaningful balance of her professional expertise and personal connection to our mission,” said Robert Lewis Jr., Nicholas President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. “Her journey from Club member to Executive Director exemplifies the transformative impact BGCB can have.”

The Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Club serves hundreds of young people annually, ages 6–18, through high-impact programming that fosters academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character development. Under KJ’s leadership, the Club will continue to grow as a beacon of opportunity and equity in Dorchester and beyond.
