“Working at Josh Kraft Mattapan Teen Center last summer really brought me out of my shell. I would have never thought I could record a song, help make a film documentary, or give a speech like this in front of a crowd.”

Mayor Michelle Wu and the City of Boston will expand the SuccessLink Summer Youth Employment program for 2023, offering a total of 7,000 jobs for young people. The city is investing $18.7M in youth jobs this year, creating 5,000 youth jobs in partnership with BGCB and other community organizations, and 2,000 city-based youth jobs.

“That means more opportunities for our students and young people to explore their interests, build a network, and develop the leadership skills that will carry our city into an even more equitable future,” explained Mayor Wu.

The announcement was made at BGCB’s Josh Kraft Mattapan Teen Center and featured remarks from Club Director Rick Aggeler and Club members Moses and Tea. “Working at the MTC last summer really brought me out of my shell,” explained Tea. “I would have never thought I could record a song, help make a film documentary, or give a speech like this in front of a crowd.”

“You learn a lot of important things like how to come to work on time, working with others, and how to manage money and not spend it all on DoorDash,” said Moses. “Every teen in Boston should try to find a job on SuccessLink.”
