In his own words

What qualities and skills did you learn from your Club that you carry with you day-to-day?

As a member of Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Club, I learned leadership, job readiness qualities, and a sense of understanding for others and the community. These qualities allowed me to work at Blue Hill in various roles, from Junior staff to Social Rec Coordinator, Athletic Director, and ultimately Director of Operations. I served in those roles for a total of 17 years.

Who is a mentor that made an impact in your life, and how?

The Club staff as a whole impacted me in a positive way. They allowed me to feel safe in my own community, provided me with my first job opportunities, and allowed me to give back to the neighborhood that I grew up in.

How has your Club experience led you to what you’re currently working on/studying?

My current position as Administrative Coordinator is the equivalent of a BGCB Club Director role, so I’ve been prepared for my current role through my time as Director of Operations at Blue Hill Club. Now I’m able to continue providing essential programming in the Dorchester area.

What advice do you have for younger members?

Continue to build positive relationships with Club staff and learn from their knowledge and resources—it will definitely have a lasting impact in your life.
